We have not been used (yet) to hear about Malaysia for its innovative places. But we must now get used to it : with the Macalister Mansion, Penang just signified its entry in the contemporary world. In rehabilitating an old colonial house, mixing contemporary art and refinement, while capitalizing on the initial space design of the house, Ministry of Design managed a beautiful reinterpretation!

Le métro ? Une abbaye ? Non, vous êtes dans les chais souterrains de El Castillo en Espagne. Nouvellement construit, il a la forme d’une long couloir qui s’enfonce progressivement dans la terre à partir d’une entrée très graphique. Etonnant.
The subway? The corridor of an abbey? You are in the underground cellars of El Castillo in Spain. Newly built, it is built as a long corridor that gradually sinks into the earth, coming from a very graphic outside entrance. An incredible impression.

Comment traduire une marque de club sportif en lieu ? En créant un musée interactif, célébrant les étapes de l’héroïsme sportif! Et l’Ajax Experience, à Amsterdam, y réussit assez bien, même si il ne fait que ré-utiliser les codes design des grands équipementiers sportifs. Mais ici, la marque prend un sens plus fort, car elle devient réelle, fondée sur ses exploits passés.
Translating a brand/ sports club into a place does not seem easy. In creating a museum, dedicates to the creation of heroes, it suddenly seems more logical. And the Ajax Experience in Amsterdam, is quite a successful example of this approach. Even if it mainly re-uses the design codes created by the major sports equipment companies, the brand takes a stronger sense with this museum, as it becomes more physical, building on its past exploits.

Pendant les vacances, les enfants entre 5 et 12 ans ont souvent droit à des clubs peu stimulants.
Ce n’est pas le cas du Resort de la Costa Navarino où les enfants ont leur propre hôtel, interdit aux parents. Construit en pensant uniquement aux enfants, le lieu ressemble au campement de Peter Pan. Il est entièrement à leur taille et à leur mesure, ludique à souhait. Les enfants y apprennent à sculpter, à construire et à peindre. Des vacances créatives uniques.
During the holidays, children between 5 and 12 years are often entitled to boring clubs.
This is not the case of the Costa Navarino Resort where children have their own hotel, where parents’ presence is prohibited. Architects have thought only of children in their work and the place looks like Peter Pan’s camp. It is entirely at children’s measurement, and so fun. They can learn to sculpt, build and paint. Unique creative holiday.
