Sous une montagne de neige se meurt un lieu incroyable. Redécouvert par le photographe Timothy Allen, le Buzludha de Bulgarie était un monument pour glorifier le communisme. Perché sur l’une des plus hautes montagne du pays, il démontrait les capacités et la richesse de l’URSS. Abandonné maintenant, le gel intense et la neige n’arrivent toutefois pas à cacher toutes ses beautés et il se transforme peu à peu en un autre lieu, un monument à la folie utopique des hommes.
Under the snow, an incredible place is dying. Re-discovered by the photographer Timothy Allen, Bulgaria’s Buzludha was a monument dedicated to Communism. Built on the top of one of Bulgaria’s highest mountain, it was meant to demonstrate USSR’s strength and wealth. Abandoned by humans, frozen by intense cold and covered by snow, it still is impressively beautiful. And doesn’t it transform itself into a monument demonstrating Man’s utopia ?

Ce nouvel hôtel à Zaandam, près d’Amsterdam, est un bâtiment incroyable qui ressemble à un empilement de maisons traditionnelles. Typique de la région de Zaan, ces façades de bois ont inspiré l’architecte pour créer cet hôtel de 160 chambres. Malheureusement, l’intérieur est plus classique. Seule la réutilisation de la couleur verte fait le lien avec l’idée initiale de l’architecte.
This new hotel in Zaandam, near Amsterdam, is amazing in its visual impression of a house pile. Those facades are typical of the Zaan region and the building is now an architectural landmark of the city. unfortunately, the inside is much more classic, even if it keeps a link with the idea, through the use of green.

Pop et de l’époque Pop puisqu’il s’agit de la piscine de l’immeuble du Spiegel, crée par Verner Panton en 1969. Verner Panton avait travaillé l’inspiration pop sur la piscine, la cafeteria, les salles de réunion et les couloirs. Demeurent encore quelques espaces dans l’immeuble de nos jours. Mais rien ne nous oblige à oublier l’ensemble des espaces conçus par ce génie.
An authentic Pop place as this is the swimming pool of the Spiegel building, designed by Verner Panton in 1969. He designed the pool, but also the cafeteria, the meeting rooms and the corridors. Even if only some of those places have been kept over the years, we can still pay a tribute to his bold creativity.

Et les enfants formés dans cette Green School à Bali sont et seront ainsi sensibilisés à leur environnement. Un très belle leçon.
When a school is built and operates as a local, environment-friendly place, it becomes a lesson in itself. And this lesson is a full part of this Green School in Bali. This school aims at providing education and earth-conscious attitude to children. Starting by itself was a very good idea.

Vous êtes sous la neige dans l’île d’Hokkaido au Japon où l’architecte Kengo Kuma a présenté une maison experience sur le thème de l’intégration de la maison et de l’environnement, dans des conditions extrêmes (le projet “Même”). Au-delà de la beauté immédiate du lieu, la maison est extrêmement innovante : La structure extérieure de la maison est faite d’une membrane double, tendue sur une simple structure de bois, qui isole naturellement l’intérieur tout en permettant à la lumière d’entrer. La ventilation et l’air conditionné sont directement intégrés entre les deux membranes. La maison est chauffée en géothermie. N’est-ce pas magnifique quand innovation, respect de l’environnement et beauté vont ensemble ?
You are in the Hokkaïdo island in Japan where the architect Kengo Kuma has presented an experimental house, the “Même” project. The house is of course obviously beautiful, but it is also very innovative: it uses a two-layer permeable membrane, stretched over a wooden frame as material for the walls and cover, which provides insulation and natural lighting inside the housing. The ventilation and air conditioning installations are within this membrane. The house uses geothermal heating system.
