In Iceland, the colour and light coming from the sky during the day varies so much, from complete darkness to bright blue, that this new hotel has decided to dedicate its experience to those variations. Each level is dedicated to a month and its light: the rooms and the corridors’ decoration at that level are expressing the light and colour of the sky, the position of the stars and the nature’s state at that specific moment of the year.
A delicate, minimalist and beautiful way to give a very local touch to the hotel’s atmosphere.
En Islande, la couleur et la lumière du ciel pendant la journée varie de l’obscurité totale au bleu vif, et ce nouvel hôtel a décidé de nourrir son expérience de ces variations. Chaque étage est consacré à un mois précis qui devient le thème de la décoration des chambres de ce niveau: la couleur du ciel, la position des astres et l’état de l’environnement à ce moment précis de l’année sont autant d’éléments qui ponctuent les couloirs et les chambres.
Une belle manière délicate et minimaliste qui donne une touche très locale à l’atmosphère de l’hôtel.

You are under a cloud … under a cloud of light bulbs, under a 15,000 LED bulb to be accurate.
This cloud was created by Canadian artists Caitlind rc Brown and Wayne Garrett for a Chicago bar for the Nuit Blanche exhibition. This incredible lighting creates undoubtedly a unique feeling.

Dans cet hôtel, l’architecte a pensé la lumière dans chaque espace, en la faisant toucher les plafonds, les sols, les murs, de plein de façon différentes : des points, des traits, des ombres, des reflections … Un jeu superbe qui illumine un design très sobre.
It is commonly said that using light models any space. In this hotel, the architect has created a different lightning in each space, making sure it touches the ceilings, the floors, the walls, in a lot of different ways: dots, lines, shadows, reflections … A superb light show which illuminates a very sober design.

Quand on construit un spa pour un grand hôtel, on se doit de créer une ambiance de sérénité hors du commun. Et la lumière joue un rôle central dans cette sensation. Mario Botta a imaginé des puits de lumière en forme de plumes qui donnent à l’extension de l’hôtel un caractère hors du commun.
When building a spa for a Grand Hotel, the architect must create an atmosphere of outstanding serenity. And light plays a central role in this feeling. Mario Botta has designed skylights shaped feathers that give the hotel extension unusual character.
