Set within the Roumare forest near Rouen, this 25 m² pavilion isn’t a house or a workspace. It has no practical function. It is a spatial installation, designed to immerse visitors in a quiet yet powerful dialogue between architecture, landscape, and rainfall.
COMPLUVIUM is a poetic space, rooted in memory and climate. Its name evokes the Roman atrium, where rain was once collected at the heart of domestic life.
Its bold geometry stands out, but its materials — pinewood, fiberglass, and locally woven linen — reconnect it with the cultural fabric of Normandy.
There’s no shelter here. Just a refuge for rain, a contemplative stage where water, wood, and light perform in harmony.

Il s’agit d’un cube invisible, où l’architecture accueille l’eau au lieu de s’en protéger.
Perché au cœur de la forêt de Roumare, ce pavillon de 25 m² ne se visite pas comme une maison ou un musée. Il ne sert ni à habiter, ni à travailler. Il est une expérience à vivre, une installation architecturale conçue pour révéler la pluie, la forêt, la lumière.
COMPLUVIUM offre un espace contemplatif hors du temps. Son nom, inspiré des atriums romains, évoque l’art de recueillir l’eau.
Sa géométrie stricte contraste avec le paysage. Mais ses matériaux — bois de pin, lin local, fibre de verre — dialoguent avec la tradition constructive normande.
À l’intérieur, pas d’abri contre les éléments. Juste une mise en scène subtile de leur présence.
Le lieu ne protège pas de la pluie : il la célèbre.
